The Macallan distillery in Speyside produces this single malt Scotch, which is aged in a mix of American and European oak casks. The Macallan transports American oak to Spain, where their custom-made casks are crafted and filled with dry Oloroso sherry. Once these casks are seasoned, they are sent to Scotland to be filled with new make spirit from The Macallan stills. After 15 years, the Whisky Mastery Team blends spirit from both types of cask to produce a harmonious, rich, and sweet single malt. The outcome is The Macallan 15 Year Old Double Cask, bottled at 43% abv and presented in its natural color, deriving its golden butterscotch hue from the oak casks.
